The effective investigation of over 190 cases, which the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (PGO) investigated until November 2019, became the challenge for NABU.
The NABU needs the assistance of the law enforcement agencies that launched the investigation. The reasons are that the number of materials is over 22 thousand volumes, half of them are so-called economic "Maidan cases" and staff of the NABU Detectives is limited. That is stated in the NABU Report: July - December 2019.
At the beginning of the NABU work, it was expected that the PGO would complete the investigation as of the former government actions (by 2015). Otherwise, Detectives would have to focus on "old crimes" and not investigate the corruption of acting officials.
In five years, these cases were not sent to court, but were referred to NABU. Currently 240 Detectives got a task to investigate the PGO cases, assess the base of previously collected evidence and continue the investigation.
