Former official of the PGO was exposed on abuses resulted in 1.8 million losses

On September 18, 2020, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor`s Office (SAPO) gave a notice of suspicion to the former Head of one of the units of the Logistics Department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine of abuse of office, which caused almost UAH 1.8 mln damages to the State. His actions are qualified under Part 2 Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation revealed that in 2015 the former official ensured the conclusion and payment of agreements between the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine and private companies for alleged repairs in the premises of the PGO without the actual intention to do it. As a result, the work was not performed. Instead, the PGO transferred UAH 1.8 million to the companies.

The NABU Detectives started a pre-trial investigation as of abovementioned facts in January 2016.

According to Part 1 Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine a person is considered not-guilty in commission of a crime and cannot be a subject to criminal punishment, until he or she is found guilty by the court.
